Logan Gilbert's formula for dominance
Gilbert's best outing in what might be more than a year was born of change.
Seattle Mariners righthander Logan Gilbert was outstanding Tuesday night versus the Baltimore Orioles. That’s easy to see, because the results, near and far, are fantastic. It’s the kind of performance the club has been waiting to see.
The club’s Opening Day starter went seven strong innings, allowed just one run on two hits, walked one and struck out a season-high 10. It was his best start since at least last August when he punched out 13 Athletics in six innings, but I;d argue it was his best performance since September, 2024.
But what changed? How did he get there? Smoke and mirrors, or can he repeat it?
Let’s take a quick dig into the mechanics, movement profiles, and pitch selection.
