The name of the scouting game below the big leagues is largely centered around tools: big power, premium bat-to-ball skills, elite strike zone judgement, big arms, huge fastball velocities, and offspeed pitches that project to miss bats.

At first, these tools are unrefined physical traits. As players develop, the tools turn into skills that, hopefully, generate MLB-quality results.

The Seattle Mariners’ farm system boasts a strong mix of loud tools, projectable ones, and a very intriguing mix of both in the upper minors.
